Paris, DAY 9, Tues, Oct 13, our last day
We then walked over to Rue Cler - a charming 3-4 blocks of a neighborhood market street and restaurants galore. The original plan was to pick up picnic fixings and walk over to the Eiffel park for lunch. Reality? It was WAY too cold and windy, so we settled on a restaurant.
We started at the end anchored by the Arc de Triomphe.
The 'hidden' access is to the right of those columns and down these stone stairs....
......to this charming grotto area.
All 6 of us started the day by visiting the UNESCO site near the Eiffel Tower.
After lunch we walked over to the Eiffel Tower where we got the only picture of all 6 of us together.
Catching metro, we went over to walk the Champs Elysees. It is an extraordinarily busy street - both in traffic and tourists & shoppers. We did pop into one clothing store and make a purchase, but mostly we just walked the length, window shopping.
The last stop on our last day was to find a "secret garden" I'd read about online. I had bookmarked the post with directions so it was kind of like following a treasure map.....turn right by the deGaulle statue, go X number feet, watch for a specific monument, etc. The directions were helpful and we fnally found this little pocket garden near the Grand Palais...........
......to this charming grotto area.
At the end of our day, we headed back to the apartment for the last time to pack and get ready to return home. Weary, but richer for the experiences.
wonderful! I almost felt like I was on the journey with you. I loved all the small moments of a window or doorway here and there as well as all the amazing architecture! Thank you for sharing your trip!
